Kalisto Pasuwa refuses to throw in towel

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Coach Kalisto Pasuwa has refused to throw in the towel in the title race despite trailing leaders Silver Strikers by 21 points with 10 games to wind up the season.

The People’s Team needs more than a miracle to defend the TNM Super League title, which they have won five times on the bounce.

In a pre-match conference ahead of this afternoon’s tie against fourth placed Creck Sporting Club at Kamuzu Stadium, Pasuwa said they would only concede defeat in the race when they play the last game of the season.

“We play 30 games until the end of the season. In our camp, we can only say that the league is gone when we play the last game of the season,” Pasuwa said.

However, Bullets have two games in hand.

Bullets can reduce the gap to 15 points between them and Silver if they win their two matches in hand.

Silver and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers are considered favourites to win the title.

The Bankers top the log table with 48 points from 20 matches, seven points above Wanderers.

Pasuwa bemoaned lack of consistency on the part of Bullets this season.

“We have been lacking consistency in our camp. We have been trying to work on that, especially on the mental aspect,” the Zimbabwean said.

Bullets have registered six wins, nine draws and three losses in 18 matches, making it their worst record in the last five years.

On top of that, they have lost two matches at home to Silver and Bangwe All Stars by 1-0 margins.

Bullets are ninth on the log table with 27 points from 18 matches whereas Creck are fourth with 31 points from 20 matches. The two teams shared the spoils after a 1-1 stalemate at Civo Stadium.

Creck Coach Macdonald Mtetemera was optimistic of upsetting Bullets at their backyard.

“We expect a tough match as every team is tough in the second round. We will play to win the match,” Mtetemera said.

Bullets defeated Chitipa United 4-2 on Sunday whereas Creck drew 1-1 with Moyale Barracks.
