Silver Strikers booked a slot to the Semi finals of the 2024 Airtel Top 8 in great style after beating Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos 1-2 at Dedza Stadium on Sunday.
On aggregate, Silver Strikers has won the two legged quarterfinal 6-2.
The win has broken the jinx of not winning at Dedza Stadium.
The hosts gave hope of returning into the match after their 4-1 loss in the first leg after scoring from a apot kick after Maxwell Paipi handled the ball in the eighteen yard box. Ibrahim Sadik converted the penalty to get the lead.
The lead forced the Bankers to make an early substitution as Dan Sandukila and Chinsisi Maonga were introduced for Duncan Nyoni and Emmanuel Muira.
The hosts took the lead to halftime. At the break, Paul Kansungwi and Misheck Selemani were substituted for Charles Chipala and Zebron Kalima.
At 56 minutes, Chinsisi Maonga levelled the scores after sending the goalie the wrong way from a spotkick.
At 68 minutes, Chikondi Kamanga was introduced for Innocent Ntonga. After this change, the Central Bankers found stability and rhythm and it was not by surprise that the team found a second goal when Charles Chipala utilised a jittery play from the back for him to score in an empty net.
After the match, Silver Strikers Head Coach Peter Mponda said the win was well deserved
“I am happy with the win this afternoon as we have played very well. Its a well deserved win as we created alot of chances. We played a completely new team but their confidence was good i am happy”, said Peter Mponda.
