Silver Strikers Ladies on Thursday afternoon played to a one all draw against Ascent Academy at Silver Stadium to finish the first round unbeaten.
With the draw, Silver Strikers Ladies are second with 18 points one point behind league Leader Civo Service Women.
It was a battle of the invincibles of the Central Region 2024 Goshen FAM Women’s Football Championship.
However, the dream to go top faced a hiccup as at 21 minutes Faith Chimzimu finished off a move to grab the lead in what looked like a fierce match.
After the goal, the guests settled well as they started to pass the ball around forcing the Andrew Chikhosi side to work for an equaliser.
At 37 minutes, forward Chikondi Gondwe equalised from a volley outside the 18 yard box taking her tally to 11 goals this season. Currently, she leads the scorers chat in the Central Region.
The scores went to regulation time unchanged despite several changes in personel from both sides.
After the match, Chikhosi said her side had a fantastic match but felt her charges could have done better in front of goal.
“We have played to a one all draw this afternoon but our aim was for a win. We tried to create some goal scoring opportunities but failed to finish them off. We have finished our first round our focus will be on the coming round and we expect to do more than we have done in this round”, said Chikhosi.
In the first round, the Area 47 Ladies’ side has won five games whilst sharing spoils three time.
