It was a goalless stalemate at Balaka Stadium as the Central Bankers played against Bangwe All Stars in the 21st match of the 2024 TNM Super League.
The result keeps the Area 47 outfit unbeaten at 49 points from 21 games.
Both sides were forced to play high balls making the match not so exciting in the first 45 minutes.
The Central Bankers made an early change at 33 minutes by bringing in Chinsisi Maonga for Binwell Katinji.
The scores remained unchanged until halftime. At the break, Silver Strikers made two changes by bringing in Zebron Kalima and Charles Chipala for Duncan Nyoni and Stanie Davie.
Come second half, both sides made several changes to find the back of the net but failed.
Head coach Peter Mponda could not hide his frustration saying the opponents came solely to defend.
“It was a frustrating afternoon as we were playing with a team that was so eager to defend but we are happy with the performances of our players. Yes we have dropped points this afternoon but we are comfortable with where we are and look forward to the upcoming games”, said Mponda.
The Bankers will next play against CRECK Sporting Club at Aubrey Dimba Stadium on Saturday.
