Silver Strikers Head Coach Peter Mponda has said his side should not underrate Chipiku Premier Division side Panthers FC when the two teams meet on Tuesday in the round of 32 of the 2024 Castel Challenge Cup at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe.
Mponda feels Panthers FC is motivated to go to Silver Stadium to face a side that is in good form and his side should respect every opponent citing an early exit in the FDH Cup when the side lost to Blue Eagles as a lesson.
The gaffer said every game is won after 90 minutes.
Panthers FC booted out MAFCO FC in the round of 64 through post-match penalties after playing out to a goalless draw at Nankhaka Stadium whilst the Central Bankers beat Blue Eagles 2-1 in the same round.
“It’s a complicated game, but it’s also easier for us coaches to motivate the players. Looking at what happened when we were playing in the FDH Cup where we lost to Blue Eagles a side which also plays in Chipiku, I think we should not underrate these guys. We are at a good place as we are coming from a semi-final win that makes it easier for us to be motivated and be geared up for a win come Tuesday,” said Mponda.
Last year, the Central Bankers finished as runners-up after going down in post-match penalties in the final.
