Civil Service United blossoming defender Masiya Manda has handed in a transfer request as he seeks an exit from the Lilongwe-based club.
This comes as Manda, who has been linked with three giants namely Mighty Wanderers, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers in the ongoing player scramble, has a K10 million buy-out clause in his contract.
This means the club that is willing to sign him must be ready to meet his K10 million buy-out clause.
In a letter dated January 28 2025, which Times Sport has seen, the Mighty Tigers former defender states that he is ready to activate his release clause from Civil.
“I signed an employment contract with Civil Service Club effective February 1, 2024 and ending on January 31, 2026. Clause three of my employment contract states that my buyout clause is K10 million.
“My representatives have contacted the club through the General Secretary [Edgar Chipalanjira] expressing my interest to activate the buyout clause and to pay the sum of K10 million. I therefore seek your intervention on this matter to facilitate my amicable exit from the club in terms of the contract,” the letter reads.
On several occasions, Civil has insisted that the player is not for sale.
In a separate interview, Civil General Secretary Edgar Chipalanjira said the club would meet the player to discuss the matter.
“We will sit down with the player and map the way forward. Manda has a contract with us; so, he cannot leave without our blessings,” Chipalanjira said.
But according to transfer rules and regulations, if another club offers the exact amount stated in the release clause, the player’s current club must accept the offer.
In addition, the player can choose to stay at their current club or use the release clause to leave.
