A tricky fixture- Mponda

Silver Strikers Head Coach Peter Mponda has said playing Mighty Tigers away is tricky.

This will be our second outing to Blantyre in week 10 where we face Mighty Tigers on Monday.

We head into this match boasting of being the only unbeaten team after a 0-1 win against champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets in week 9.

The hosts return to action after suffering a 1-0 loss to Mzuzu-based soldiers Moyale Barracks that left them at position 10 with 11 points.

Mponda says he hopes that his boys will not be affected by the break when they return in action and that they will keep the rhythm going.

“We are glad to resume our run in the league after the break. I would say the break was in two folds as at some point it posed a threat that the boys might have lost the tempo but to some extent, it was good to break a bit as it helped our boys to have some rest, I am glad that after their return they have shown the spirit to continue fighting for good results. But this is a tricky fixture having Tigers in their backyard however we expect to work hard to return to Lilongwe with maximum points from Blantyre”, said Mponda.

Silver Strikers last played competitive football on 2 June as the league came to a halt following the FIFA International break and the tragic passing of the former Vice President Dr Saulos Chilima.

Due to the passing of the former Vice President, Malawi National Council of Sports announced the suspension of sporting activities in the country on 12th June.
