FCB Nyasa Big Bullets barely survive

TNM Super League defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets barely survived in their match against resilient Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos with a goal in the dying minutes rescuing them from the jaws of defeat at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

Bullets trailed Dedza 1-0 until the 6th minute of added time when Lameck Gamphani leveled the scores to rescue a point for the hosts.

Dedza threatened to embarrass Bullets in front of their own fans with a well-taken goal scored by Ibrahim Sadiki.

Bullets could have taken the lead in the 26th minute through Babatunde Adepoju’s penalty which Dedza goalkeeper Donnex Mwakasinga saved with Babatunde hitting the post from the rebound.

Dedza finished the match with 10 men after Khumbo Banda was sent off for a second bookable offence.

The result took the People’s Team to 41 points from 24 matches with no movement from their third position on the table.

The single point helped Dedza to 11th position with 30 points after playing 25 matches.

Bullets coach Kalisto Pasuwa said his charges were complacent after edging bitter rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers 2-1 at the same venue on Saturday.

“Complacency crept into our team. Remember we are coming from a win over our bitter rivals and our minds were still there. But in football there is nothing like that. Yes we won the derby and it was finished.

“You could see the body language in some of our players in the way they were playing. We got our chances but the opposition got one and punished us. For a good part of the second half, they were leading us as we fought for the equaliser which we got in the last minute,” Pasuwa said.

His Dedza counterpart Andrew Bunya said it was a tough match.

“Both teams came with a purpose to win. We came to beat Bullets right here at their backyard with everything at their disposal. But we restricted them to their own half so that they could not get goals. Unfortunately, we lost concentration and allowed them to equalise,” Bunya said.

In other matches, Mafco and Bangwe All Stars shared spoils following a goalless draw while Moyale thumped Baka City 4-1.
