REVENUE SURGE IN 2024 TNM SUPER LEAGUE FIRST ROUND

The Super League has reported a significant financial achievement with total gross gate revenue of close to 700 million kwacha.

Malawi’s top league recorded a sum of six hundred eighty-nine million, two hundred ninety-eight thousand, one hundred (MWK 689,298,100) in gate revenue from the first round of the 2024 TNM Super League. This marks an impressive increase of 37% compared to last season’s gross revenue of five hundred three million, three hundred fifty-one thousand, nine hundred eighty-nine (MWK 503,351,989) during the same time of the season.

Clubs collectively shared a total of two hundred eighty-six million, three hundred ninety-one thousand, eight hundred fifty (MWK 286,391,850), a substantial rise from last season’s one hundred ninety-five million, six hundred seventeen thousand, three hundred fifty-one (MWK 195,617,351).

Among the top earners from gate revenue are FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers, Silver Strikers and Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos in that order.

The defending champions, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, have earned sixty-six million, four hundred seventy-two thousand, three hundred forty-two (MWK 66,472,342). Mighty Mukuru Wanderers have collected fifty-five million, twenty-five thousand, two hundred sixty-five (MWK 55,025,265). Silver Strikers, the current league leaders, have generated thirty-five million, nine hundred twenty-five thousand and five (MWK 35,925,005) while Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos have accumulated seventeen million, three hundred fifty-five thousand, five hundred ten (MWK 17,355,510).

Notably, Silver Strikers FC has seen a remarkable 76% increase in gate revenue, having earned twenty million, four hundred twenty-nine thousand, eight hundred eight (MWK 20,429,808) at the same stage last season.

The league had to pay a total of one hundred forty-nine million, seven hundred thirty-four thousand, fourteen (MWK 149,734,014) in match day expenses.

Ground owners have earned one hundred thirty-four million, eight hundred eight thousand, forty-eight (MWK 134,808,048), while the Sports Council received twenty-six million, eight hundred eighty-four thousand, six hundred eighty-six (MWK 26,884,686).

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) earned thirty-seven million, six hundred sixty-two thousand, four hundred fifty-eight (MWK 37,662,458), and SULOM (Super League of Malawi) itself pocketed fifty-three million, eight hundred seventeen thousand, forty-three (MWK 53,817,043).

In addition to gate revenues, the Super League of Malawi has secured eighty-six million, eight hundred fifty thousand (MWK 86,850,000) from media broadcasting rights for the first round of the season.

The financial growth demonstrated by the 2024 TNM Super League highlights the increasing popularity and commercial success of football in Malawi, setting a promising precedent for the future of the sport in the country.
