FCB Nyasa Big Bullets ex-captain Precious Sambani in no-show

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets ex-captain Precious Sambani in no-show

In-house problems in the FCB Nyasa Big Bullets camp are refusing to go away, with former captain Precious Sambani missing in action for about two weeks now.

The Malawi National Football Team left back is said to have stopped reporting for training immediately after the People’s Team beat their archrivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers 2-1 in an FDH Bank Cup round-of-16 match at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre a fortnight ago.

Bullets Chief Executive Officer Albert Chigoga confirmed that Sambani is no longer reporting for training.

“But let me not disclose much on the development. It is difficult for me to say a lot about this matter. Just know that it is indeed true that Sambani is no longer reporting for training. Allow me not to comment further,” Chigoga said.

The development comes after Bullets took the captain’s armband away from Sambani recently and gave it to fellow defender Gomezgani Chirwa following the club’s poor start to the TNM Super League.

Sambani was not available for a comment.

The former Wanderers star missed Bullets’ 2-0 beating of Bangwe All Stars and the 1-0 win over Civil Service United in the Super League and FDH Bank Cup quarterfinals, respectively.

Football analyst Sherry Msuku said Sambani’s absence could be because of the club’s decision to fire him as captain.

“This is a clear indication that he is not happy with what the club did. He certainly has his own interpretation of what has happened and is simply reacting. But Sambani is a senior player and he must learn to seek audience from management to sort out issues at the club. Staying away from training or matches is not the right way to go,” Msuku said.

At the time of stripping Sambani of the team’s leadership, Bullets also announced the suspension of centre forward Hassan Kajoke for four months over indiscipline.
