FCB Nyasa Big Bullets start busy week as Arrows jet in

What is more lethal between Bullets and Arrows? This is the question that is being asked ahead of the Caf Champions League showdown between FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Red Arrows of Zambia.

The two teams lock horns in the first leg of the elite club competition’s preliminary round at Bingu National Stadium (BNS) in Lilongwe on Sunday.

Perhaps this question will not be answered on this day as the two teams will meet again on August 24 in the second leg at Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

But before that, Bullets will take on Moyale Barracks, a military team, in an FDH Bank semifinal clash at BNS on Wednesday.

The People’s Team is practically in the bush, and at war.

In a bid to prepare well for their Zambian opponents, Bullets shifted their training base from Blantyre to Lilongwe, where they will dig their trenches on the frontline as they get set for a busy week.

Bullets acting Chief Executive Officer Albert Chigoga said their squad arrived in Lilongwe yesterday ahead of Sunday’s match, with Arrows set to jet in today.

“I can report that the progress we are making on the ground is quite good. We have match tickets on the market and people are coming forward to buy them. Ahead of the match, we are engaging several stakeholders including security personnel for good management of the game.

“On the pitch, our technical team has been drilling the players. We have done our best to put them in good shape for this big stage. So we are ready for our opponents and we will fight to get good results,” Chigoga said.

Chigoga said Bullets will travel to Lusaka on Thursday next week for the return match after taking on Moyale on Wednesday.

“We will play against Moyale under floodlights on Wednesday evening before starting off for Lusaka the following day. So it is a tight schedule for us.

“But there is nothing we can do about it apart from just fulfilling all our assignments,” he said.

Bullets are returning to the continental competition after getting booted out in the second round last year at the hands of continental giants TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo, who hammered them 6-0 on aggregate.

The People’s Team has never progressed to the group stages of the competition since 2003.
