Mighty Wanderers Football Club 2021 Limited are hoping to make K90 million from the new merchandise which the team has ordered to meet its growing demand.
The team made K80 million when they sold the first consignment of jerseys, track suits, scarves and caps.
Wanderers Brands and Marketing Manager, Greyson Chapita said in a bid to boost their commercialization drive they have acquired new sets of merchandise to be sold to their followers.
He said the new stock is a response to the increasing demand for the merchandise.
“We generated about K80 million through the first stock. With this new stock we expect to raise close to K90 million. You know we experienced stock out in terms of the merchandise that was ordered in the first half of the season. After the stock out there was an outcry for more merchandise, hence the development.
“We have stocked both white and blue replica jerseys, track suits, scarves and caps. White jersey costs K28,500 while the blue jersey is worth K24,500. Tracksuit is going at K175,000 while a golf shirt is valued at K46,500. As for the scarves and caps the prices will be set within the week,” Chapita said.
Meanwhile, the company’s chief executive officer, Panganeni Ndovi touted the commercialisation initiative following its success.
“We are currently undertaking various initiatives including renovating the club house, membership registration, partnership building and sale of club merchandise,” he told the club’s media.
Wanderers National Cheerleader Yona ‘Ekhaya Mpinganjira’ Malunga, hailed the club’s hierarchy for the commercialisation drive.
“This is how modern football should be run. Teams should not be relying on gate collections. We have now started seeing changes and all is this because of the club’s president Thomson Mpinganjira. The team has now picked form and as supporters we are patriotic. We should continue pushing each to move forward and more supporters should buy,” Malunga said.
