Voting for the prestigious MIKA Greenland Player of the Month award has been opened on Monday with three players getting a nomination for their outstanding performances in August.
Silver Strikers played three matches out of the four that were scheduled in the month of August. The three were a second-round opener against Karonga United at Karonga Stadium, a home game against Mighty Tigers, and a return to Karonga Stadium to play Chitipa United. The Bankers won two of the three (against Karonga United and Mighty Tigers) and shared spoils (1-1) with Chitipa United.
In the three matches played in August, forwards Charles Chipala and Stanie Davie not forgetting McDonald Lameck have emerged as nominees for the monthly award.
Here is how the three got themselves on the list of nominees:
Charles Chipala: The quick feet attacker gets nominated for the MIKA Player of the Month award for the first time after joining Silver Strikers early this year. In August, Chipala managed to play in all three matches. Charles scored a second-half header when we played against Chitipa United to level matters, help the Area 47 outfit salvage a point, and keep the unbeaten run going. So far, Chipala has four goals to his name.
Stanie Davie: This is the second nomination for him this season. Davie has of late been so influential in the goals we have scored utilizing his physical presence in the box and his ability to command the ball with his head. The forward played all three matches in August, and in the second-round opener against Karonga United, Davie came from the bench and only required eight minutes to score and bag the man of the match award. This was his fifth goal of the season.
McDonald Lameck: The energetic right-back enjoying his first season at Silver Strikers appears on the nominee list for the second time this season. Lameck has played in all three matches for Silver Strikers. The defender has in August alone managed to provide two assists to the four goals the team has scored. Currently, Lameck is topping the list of players with the most assists, he has eight assists to his name thus far.
