“It’s a big game”-Mponda

Head Coach Peter Mponda says his maiden Lilongwe derby is a big game and a good opportunity to make the records of the derby right.

Speaking ahead of the Lilongwe Derby, Mponda says he is well aware of how tricky derbies are and the clash against Civil Service United on Sunday is no different.

Mponda added that his boys have shrugged off Monday’s result against Mighty Tigers and are focused on getting maximum points in the Lilongwe derby.

On Monday, Silver Strikers shared spoils (2-20) with Mighty Tigers at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

“We are all set for the game on Sunday, yes we just returned from a frustrating result against Tigers but we are okay with the point we got in Blantyre. Going into the Lilongwe derby we are focused on changing the narrative against Civil. The three points against Civil will be a morale booster for us as we are looking forward to making a statement with a win, however, we know Civil is playing well even though they lost (3-0) against Mighty Mukuru Wanderers”, said Mponda.

The Central Bankers have won eight games and shared spoils twice this far.

Currently, the Civil Servants are eighth on the standings with 14 points from 10 games and the Central Bankers are still top of the table with 26 points.
