Fullback Precious Sambani has promised not to reveal reasons behind his departure from FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.
“For the love and respect of the club, I will not talk much even though there is a lot to say,” the left-back said yesterday after Bullets terminated his contract under mysterious circumstances.
The development does not come as a surprise as Sambani twice absconded club duties, apparently without permission.
Bullets on Monday released a statement announcing that they had terminated Sambani’s contract.
The player joined Bullets in 2019 from rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers. He jumped from the blue and white side of town to the red and white one on a free transfer.
“FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Football Club can confirm that Precious Sambani’s contract has been terminated with immediate effect. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours,” a statement on Bullets Facebook page reads.
Both parties confirmed the development but did not divulge much details.
Bullets acting Chief Executive Officer Albert Chigoga refused to take questions, saying the statement was enough.
Similarly, Sambani was elusive on the issue.
“I am leaving the club a happy person after serving it well during my stay.
“I would not love to say bad [things] about Bullets. I have a lot to say but, for the sake of respect, allow me not to comment further,” Sambani said.
Sambani, who was stripped of the Bullets captaincy, was tongue-tied to reveal his next destination.
“I am yet to decide on my next move but I will leave everything in the hands of God. I wish Bullets all the best,” he said.
The 27-year-old left back won four league titles with Bullets, two Airtel Top 8 cups, three FDH Bank Cup titles and one Castel Challenge Cup.
The player had only two months left on his contract and will join a team of his choice as a free agent.
Sambani fell third in the pecking order at Bullets following the promotion of reserve team player Chrispin Mapemba as well as the recovery of Alick Lungu from injury.
He was stripped of the captaincy and was replaced by Gomezgani Chirwa.
