Moyale Barracks hold Silver Strikers

TNM Super League leaders Silver Strikers title challenge was given a rare test when they were forced to a goalless draw by Moyale Barracks at Mzuzu Stadium Sunday.

Despite the draw, Silver remain at the top with 37 points from 15 games, having won 11 matches and drawn four.

The Central Bankers have opened a 12-point gap over second-placed Mighty Mukuru Wanderers, who have a game in hand.

Silver also lead with 17 points over sixth-placed defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, who have played 14 games.

Despite dropping two points, Silver Coach Peter Mponda was satisfied with the result.

“It is a fair result when we consider the balance of play. Moyale tried and we tried too. We do not want to give excuses but it was a good game,” Mponda said.

Mponda hailed the Central Bankers’ supporters for rallying behind the team throughout the campaign.

On his part, Moyale Coach Pritchard Mwansa said it was a balanced affair.

“It was a good game, especially in the first half. We played well but did not utilise our chances,” Mwansa said.

Moyale are fifth with 22 points from 12 games.
