Silver Strikers came from behind twice in a four goal thriller at Aubrey Dimba Stadium to stretch the unbeaten run to 22 games on Sunday.
From the first whistle, both sides made their intentions clear of trying to get goals. Friday Osagie was taken out at 17 minutes for Binwell Katinji.
The Bankers first glance at getting a goal came at 20 minutes when Uchizi Vunga curled in a beautiful corner to force the home team to clear on the line
At 33 minutes the Central Bankers had a clear threat on the host’s goal as Charles Chipala failed to finish off a move that saw Chimwemwe Idana playing him a fantastic pass that ended up going over the bar.
Seconds later, Uchizi Vunga started up a move which ended at the feet of Substitute Binwell Katinji but his effort went off target.
The Central Bankers were punished in the last minute of the first half when Emmanuel Kaunga was disposed off of the ball and Muhammad Sulumba finished off an easy go which they took to half time.
At half time, Coach Peter Mponda made a double substitution as he took out Charles Chipala and Emmanuel Kaunga for Gift Chunga and Maxwell Paipi.
The Area 47 outfit made a quick response to the goal they conceded as they quickly started play and Chunga crossed in the ball that saw Vunga settling the scores.
For a better part of the second half the tempo of the game went down until the 79th minute when Sulumba came again to snatch a lead but in a dramatic fashion Uchizi Vunga equalised again seconds after Sulumba’s lead.
The last 10 minutes of the match had high momentum with both sides trying to find a winner but a third goal never came from both ends.
After the match, Mponda said his side had a good game with a disappointing result.
“It was a good game as we perfomed very well. We are disappointed with the result of the game but we are not surprised as it looked like we played against alot of sides but all in all thats football”, said Mponda.
The point gained from the game pushes Silver Strikers to 50 points, six ahead of second placed Mighty Wanderers.
Silver Strikers will next play against Civil Sporting Club in the Lilongwe Derby.
