Head Coach Peter Mponda says his team has set eyes on maximum points on Sunday as they play Moyale Barracks at Mzuzu Stadium.
The last Bankers’ match of the 2024 TNM Super League first round is coming as the team tops the standings with 36 points from 14 games.
This will be a seventh away fixture for the Central Bankers after managing three wins (against Baka FC, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Civil Service United),and three draws (against Dedza Dynamos, Mighty Tigers and Kamuzu Barracks) away from home.
Mponda said it’s important to get maximum points in Mzuzu as this will cement their intent as a team.
“Mzuzu Stadium is a tough place to go but we are ready and we are aiming for maximum points. As a team we know our strength is in keeping possession and attacking our opponents therefore this is what we will try to do in Mzuzu. Getting maximum points on Sunday is important as it will help us to set a good starting point of the second round. Every team behind us will be working so hard to catch up with us but we just need to do the same and put ourselves beyond reach”, said Mponda.
Mponda got a squad boost this week as forward Binwell Katinji has returned to the team after almost a month out of action due to injury.
Currently the Area 47 outfit is the only unbeaten side in the league.
