Welcome to the Malawi Tnm Super League fans website, proudly presented by TNM, the leading mobile telecommunications company in Malawi. Established in 1986, the Malawi Super League, also known as the TNM Super League, stands as the pinnacle of football competition in the country.

Originally sponsored by Gillet Nacet, the league began with 8 teams, consisting of 5 from the Blantyre and Districts Football League (BDFL) and 3 from the Lilongwe and Districts Football League (BDFL). The inaugural match took place on March 15th, 1986, featuring Mitco FC and Admarc Tigers FC (now known as Azam Tigers FC), with Mitco FC emerging victorious with a 1-0 scoreline, courtesy of Lameck Botha's goal in the 21st minute, etching his name in Malawi's football history.

Tnm Super League 2024

TNM has been the league's esteemed sponsor since 2006, contributing K95 million annually. With a total of 15 teams, the league season spans from April to December, showcasing the best talent and competitive spirit in Malawian football.

Administered by the Super League of Malawi, an affiliate of the Football Association of Malawi (FAM), the Malawi Super League serves as a pathway to continental glory, as the champions earn qualification to the prestigious CAF Champions League.

Despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to the cancellation of the 2020 season just a day before kickoff on March 20th, the league is poised to make a triumphant return. With stringent COVID-19 measures in place, the eagerly awaited resumption is scheduled for November 28th, 2020, promising exhilarating football action while ensuring the safety and well-being of all involved. Promotion and Relegation

Three bottom placed teams at the end of the season are relegated to the Regional Leagues depending to a particular region that team comes from.

There are three Regional Leagues that feeds the Super league and these are the Southern Region Football League, The Chipuku Central Region Football League and the Simama Northern Region Football League. The champions of the each of the three regions earn promotion into the Super League.

Sponsorships

The TNM Super League is TNM’s major sponsorship property and it is Malawi’s elite football league competed for by 16 teams from across Malawi. TNM started elite football sponsorship in 2007 and its current sponsorship agreement runs up to 2025.

A total of 240 games are played during a season over a period of 8 months. The TNM league sponsorship is current at K150 million with the champion winning K40 million. The runner-up and third placed team get K15 million and K7.5 million respectively.

The Super League of Malawi (SULOM) who are the league managers and are responsible day to day management of the league. The league runs from April to December and relegates three bottom teams who are replaced by those that emerge champions in the country’s three regional leagues. Read more about SULOM on www.sulom.com
